NEO is the current e-Commerce solution for Axa Partners but where did NEO come from and what was in place before ?
With the opening of Internet to the general public during the 90's emerged a new distribution model allowing direct sales to customers through easily accessible Web Sites.
At the time Axa Assistance would sell Travel Insurance uniquely through the AXA Agent's Network of retail agencies.
Soon enough the new digital capabilities offered by the Web would trigger a strategy to build Axa Assistance's own purchase funnel.
Around 2010 with a very small team, a first version of Travel Insurance direct sales would be published using PHP, a free programming language.
The success of the platform was immediate but together with growing traffic the necessity for a more secure protocol brought the company to decide for a new solution.
In 2014 the #Cross project started. One of the first projects to use Agile methodology.
Together with promoting Agile around the company #Cross would bring a certain number of new features to improve the user experience.
At the same time with the emergence of Web 2.0 bringing a new interoperability model between web sites, the company developed in parallel the MOVE Platform.
This state of the art API library would enable to provide hundreds of end points for third party companies wishing to collaborate with Axa Partners
through a new distribution model.
These interoperability capabilities triggered the need for a more versatile e-Commerce platform capable of building business through multi-distribution models :
B2C with direct sales purchase funnels
B2B2C with a platform made for professionals (Brokers, Travel agents, ...) to sell Travel insurance products on Axa Partner's behalf (Agent Channel)
White branded Web Sites querying our API's to sell outside the Axa Brand
Aggregators to push Web visibility further and be compared with our competitors
Starting in 2017 this new solution would become NEO a few years later, constantly evolving to match market needs and business opportunities
by opening new business lines for Home, Consumer Electronics, Motor and Health.
